As we inch closer to “splash down,” it genuinely feels like we’re prepping for a space mission with the sheer number of items on the checklist. The house needs to stay safe while we’re off exploring, so everything from new insurance to upgraded plumbing has made its way onto the list. Even the robot lawnmower—Jason Ma‑Mower—has his route programmed so the garden stays BBQ‑ready for those fun moments we’ll be back on land between sails.

Then there’s the packing. Gadget‑loving sailors do not make for light luggage, so that list is… substantial. And the paperwork? That beast has its own very long checklist too.

But we’re getting there. And when I say “we,” I really mean Captain Tim, who has done an incredible job steering the prep while I’ve had the comparatively easy task of heading into the office and winding down a 34‑year career. Goodbyes are also on the tick list—not really goodbyes, more like “see you soon.”

As the list gets shorter, the excitement and anticipation keep climbing. How do you prepare for the biggest adventure we’ve ever taken on? At this point, I’m thinking… you just jump straight in.
